Hello, is this NodeMcu ESP8266 ESP-12F or ESP-12E?

Mine says 12F on the chip itself. The board doesn't state.

Arduino ide doesn't automatically have this board. Are the data pins 3.3v or 5v tolerant? Clearly the board accepts 5v, and there is a voltage regulator to drop the supplied voltage to 3.3v - my understanding is that the ESP8266 is only 3.3v tolerant - so if you supply 5v to VIN do the data pins only provide 3.3v?Can you interface 5v I2C modules to this device, or only 3.3v I2C modules?

The data pins are for 3.3V only.

what is max voltage i can supply to V IN

According to the datasheet of the regulator (AMS1117), maximum 12V, but it is recommended to be less than that.

Setup Guide

Identify the pins

Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
