The SmartElex LHI778 PIR Motion Sensor is a compact, low-power, and reliable sensor designed to detect motion using infrared (IR) technology. It works by sensing changes in infrared radiation emitted by nearby objects, especially human bodies. When movement is detected within its 120° field of view, it outputs a HIGH signal, making it perfect for security systems, lighting automation, and presence detection projects. The sensor offers adjustable detection distance (up to 6m) and response time (0.3s–25s) using onboard potentiometers. With a low current draw and wide voltage support (3V–5V), it’s ideal for both battery-powered and embedded systems.

Features:

  1. Wide operating voltage: 3V to 5V
  2. Adjustable detection range: Up to 6 meters
  3. Customizable response time: 0.3 to 25 seconds
  4. Low current consumption: 100–150µA
  5. Large detection angle: 120° field of view
  6. Compact and easy to integrate in small enclosures
  7. Infrared wavelength detection: 7–14μm
  8. Ideal for motion-activated systems and smart automation

Package Includes:

1 x SmartElex LHI778 PIR Motion Sensor Module

1 x Fresnel Lens(8120-2)

1 x 4 Pin Cable (30cm)

Setup Guide

1
Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
2
Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
3
Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.
4
Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.
5
Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
