The LTR-329ALS-01 is a low voltage I2C digital light sensor [ALS] in a low cost miniature chipled lead-free surface mount package. This sensor converts light intensity to a digital output signal capable of direct I2C interface. It provides a linear response over a wide dynamic range from 0.01 lux to 64k lux and is well suited to applications under high ambient brightness. There are altogether six gain settings (1X, 2X, 4X, 8X, 48X and 96X) available for user to configure. Adafruit LTR-329 Light Sensor CMOS design and factory-set one time trimming capability ensure minimal sensor-to-sensor variations for ease of manufacturability to the end customers.
Features:
- LTR-329ALS-01 ambient light sensor chip – measures visible and infrared light for accurate lux readings.
- Wide measurement range: roughly 0.01 lux to ~64 k lux, suitable for low-light to bright sunlight conditions.
- 16-bit digital output – provides high-resolution light measurements over I²C.
- Dual light channels – separate visible and IR photodiodes allow precise ambient light detection and better human-eye response matching.
- I²C interface (STEMMA QT / Qwiic compatible) – 3 V–5 V logic safe; easy, solder-free connection with standard JST-SH cables.
- Voltage range: 3.0 V to 5.0 V power and logic operation.
- Low current consumption – ideal for battery-powered or always-on applications.
- Configurable gain and integration time – adjust sensitivity and measurement speed.
- Small, breadboard-friendly breakout board with mounting holes for easy integration.
- Built-in pull-up resistors on the I²C lines and level shifting for plug-and-play us
