The USB Temperature and Humidity Sensor Trinkey is a compact, USB-compatible board featuring an ATSAMD21 microcontroller and an SHT45 temperature and humidity sensor from Sensirion. It’s designed to easily slip into any USB-A port on a computer or laptop, offering a simple setup with minimal wiring or soldering. The microcontroller interfaces with a NeoPixel LED and a capacitive touch input, with a reset button to enter bootloader mode if needed. USB Temperature and Humidity Sensor supports both Circuit Python and Arduino, with libraries for SHT4x sensors, NeoPixel, and capacitive touch. The USB Temperature and Humidity Sensor offers high accuracy, with ±1.0% RH and ±0.1°C temperature accuracy, making it ideal for simple temperature and humidity measurement projects. The board is pre-programmed to output temperature, humidity, and touch sensor data over a serial port in CSV format, ready for use right out of the box. For those on a budget or needing lower accuracy, the SHT41 Trinkey offers a more affordable alternative. With its small, durable design, the SHT45 Trinkey is perfect for both beginners and advanced developers looking for an easy-to-use and versatile solution.

Features:

  1. ATSAMD21E18 32-bit Cortex M0+ - 48 MHz 32-bit processor with 256KB Flash and 32 KB RAM
  2. Native USB CDC ACM supported by every OS (Mac OS X, Windows 7~11, Linux) - can be used in Arduino or CircuitPython as a USB serial console, MIDI,
  3. Keyboard/Mouse HID, and even a little disk drive for storing Python scripts.
  4. Can be used with Arduino IDE or CircuitPython
  5. One RGB NeoPixel LED
  6. One Capacitive Touchpad
  7. SHT45 Temperature + Humidity sensor with thermal-isolation cutout
  8. Reset switch to start your project code over or enter bootloader mode
  9. Slim and cute, keychain-friendly
  10. Fully functional in condensing environment
  11. Power heater, true NIST-traceability
  12. JEDEC JESD47 qualification
  13. Sensor-specific calibration certificate acc. to ISO 17025 : 2017, 3-point temp. calibration

Setup Guide

1
Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
2
Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
3
Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.
4
Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.
5
Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
