We've got a high-powered infrared emitter board, and a super-sensitive infrared remote receiver board - but why buy two boards when you can pick up one that does both? This board is the Adafruit Infrared Tranceiver breakout, which can transmit and receiver 940nm remote control data in one handy solder-free package. Please Note: to make this board easy to use, we have both solder-able breakout pads and also a JST PH 4-pin cable. We often use JST PH cables for I2C but this board does not use I2C - the white wire is data from a microcontroller to be emitted over the IR LED, the green wire is demodulated IR remote signal data to a microcontroller. The black wire is ground, red wire is 3V~5V power and logic level.

Setup Guide

Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.

Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.

Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.

Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.

Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
