Which protocol is the receiver? Can I use other transmitters?

Hi,this k989 rc car uses 297L protocol transmitter,product id is 1927430,it cannot bind with other controller

how is this car to drift ? if all is stock and you just put on drift tires ?

just but drift tyres on ebay for 10 pounds plus they have trye lettering which makes them look betterthey are called : drift tyres ds racing 1:28 scale rc Drift Asbo Rc

No, as the Transmitter only has a throttle Trim option. Your only option would be to get the 3-in-1 Receiver Board and Transmitter that the 284131 uses or the ones for the newer 284010 and 286131 as they have a Throttle Dual Rate option where you can set a lower top speed. The new 3-in-1 Receiver Boards are the same size and look as the one in the K989 but have an updated Transmitter with better Steering and Throttle control.Also, both of the Transmitters will work with the new Receiver Boards as the only difference between them is the 284131's Transmitter uses 4XAA batteries and the newer 284010 and 286131 Transmitter uses 4XAAA batteries. ... see more see less

Setup Guide

Charge the vehicle battery

Connect the vehicle battery to the included charger. Charge fully (typically 1–2 hours) before first run. Never leave charging unattended.

Install batteries in the transmitter

Open the transmitter battery compartment and insert AA batteries as indicated by the polarity markings.

Power on in the correct order

Turn ON the transmitter FIRST, then the vehicle. This prevents unexpected runaway movement.

Trim and calibrate

If the vehicle pulls left or right at rest, use the steering trim knob on the transmitter to centre it.

Start slowly

Begin with half-throttle to get a feel for the controls. Gradually increase speed as you become familiar with the handling.
