MH-Z19E NDIR infrared gas module is a common type, small size sensor, pins type or terminal type, using non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) principle to detect the existence of CO2 in the air, with good selectivity, non-oxygen dependent and long life. Built-in temperature compensation; and it has UART output and PWM output. It is developed by the tight integration of mature infrared absorbing gas detection technology, precision optical circuit design and superior circuit design. Note: For applications in industrial or high-CO₂ conditions, SKU 1278801 is recommended. Applications:
  1. HVAC refrigeration
  2. Air cleaner device
  3. Indoor air quality monitoring
  4. Smart home
  5. Ventilation system
  6. School

Features:

  1. High sensitivity, low power consumption
  2. Good stability
  3. Temperature compensation, excellent linear output
  4. Multiple output modes: UART, PWM
  5. Long lifespan
  6. Anti-water vapor interference, anti-poisoning

Package Includes:

1 x Winsen MH-Z19E NDIR CO2 sensor for indoor air quality monitoring

Setup Guide

1
Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
2
Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
3
Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.
4
Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.
5
Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
