The STMicroelectronics HTS221TR is an ultra-compact digital humidity and temperature sensor designed for accurate environmental monitoring in space-constrained applications. It integrates a polymer dielectric capacitive sensing element with a mixed-signal ASIC, delivering calibrated digital output via I²C and SPI interfaces. With a wide measurement range of 0–100% RH and -40°C to +120°C, it ensures reliable performance across diverse environments.

The sensor features low power consumption (2 µA at 1 Hz), making it ideal for battery-powered devices. Factory calibration eliminates the need for user calibration, simplifying integration. Housed in a tiny 2×2×0.9 mm LGA-6 package, it is suitable for compact electronics.

Features:

  1. 0–100% relative humidity sensing range
  2. ±3.5% RH accuracy (20–80% RH)
  3. ±0.5°C temperature accuracy (15–40°C)
  4. Ultra-low power: 2 µA @ 1 Hz
  5. Dual interface: I²C & SPI
  6. Embedded 16-bit ADC
  7. Factory calibrated for easy integration

Specifications:

  1. Humidity Accuracy: ±3.5% RH (20–80%), ±5% RH full range
  2. Humidity Sensitivity: 0.004 %RH/LSB
  3. Temperature Sensitivity: 0.016 °C/LSB
  4. Humidity Response Time: 10 s
  5. Temperature Response Time: 15 s
  6. Humidity Drift: 0.5 %RH/year
  7. Temperature Drift: 0.05 °C/year
  8. Output Data Rate: 1 / 7 / 12.5 Hz
  9. Supply Current: 2 µA @ 1 Hz
  10. Power-down Current: 0.5 µA
  11. ADC Resolution: 16-bit
  12. Package: LGA-6 (2×2×0.9 mm)

Package Includes:

1 x STMicroelectronics HTS221TR Humidity & Temperature Sensor, 0~100% RH, ±3.5% RH, ±0.5°C, I²C/SPI, 1.7~3.6V , LGA-6

Setup Guide

1
Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
2
Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
3
Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.
4
Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.
5
Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
