This MINI USB Host Shield 2.0 ADK is designed to be easily combined with “Mini” variant of Arduino Board, specifically, Sparkfun 3.3V Arduino Pro Mini. It will also work with other 3.3V Arduinos. Also, due to its’ small size it can be used as general MAX3421E breakout board. This shield is fully compatible and supported by USB Host Shield Library. Arduino Pro Mini is not included. This MINI USB Host Shield 2.0 ADK board makes Arduino very easy to communicate with a USB slave device, such as USB keyboard, mouse, U disk, camera, Android phone and so on. Using USB Hose Shield with Arduino also allows you to implement Google ADK. It supports 3.3V / 8M / 328 Arduino Pro mini and 3.3V FTDI. Mini USB host allows Arduino (Pro mini version only) to achieve USB HOST function, can communicate with other USB devices, and support USB HUB function. It also supports for Google Android ADK function Support For Android phone type:G1, Nexus One, Nexus S, Motorola Droid X (mobile phone system needs to upgrade to Android 2.3.

Setup Guide

Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.

Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.

In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.

Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.

Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
