The HaiWang HW-XC509, 0.5m-12m, Microwave Radar Sensor Module is a 5.8GHz microwave sensor designed for detecting motion using Doppler technology. It offers a customizable sensing range of 0.5m to 12m and operates with a low current of less than 15mA. The module features repeatable triggering with a 2-second default delay time and is highly resistant to environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and light. With a 90° to 360° detection angle, it's ideal for applications in security, lighting automation, and smart appliances. Operating in temperatures from -20°C to +80°C, it's compact, cost-effective, and reliable for various control systems.

Features:

  1. Frequency: 5.8GHz fixed frequency for efficient signal transmission and reception.
  2. Sensing Range: Customizable from 0.5m to 12m.
  3. Induction Method: Doppler motion detection.
  4. Output: TTL output with high (3.3V) and low (0V) levels.
  5. Triggering: Default repeatable triggering with a 2-second delay time.
  6. Anti-Interference: Strong resistance to temperature, humidity, airflow, dust, noise, and light conditions.
  7. Operating Voltage: DC 6V-24V, low current (<15mA).
  8. Angle: 90°-360° detection range.
  9. Light Sensor: Built-in photosensitive feature to block output when receiving light.
  10. Temperature Range: Operates in environments from -20°C to +80°C.

Setup Guide

1
Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
2
Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
3
Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.
4
Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.
5
Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
