The traditional power boost and battery charge circuit are usually divided into two separate parts, the circuit will be relatively cumbersome to build.  
The Monolithic Power Systems (MPS) MP2636 is highly-integrated, flexible switch-mode battery charger with system power path management, designed for single-cell Liion or Li-Polymer batteries used in a wide range of portable applications. It is really simple to use, once you plug a lipo battery, it will work like a power bank. When there is an external power supply from VIN, it will charge the battery automatically, and the CHG led will light up; when there is no external power, only battery on battery port, the Boost will be ON.

Setup Guide

Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.

Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.

Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.

Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.

Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
