The ADS1232/4 is a high-precision 24-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), designed specifically for use with bridge sensors such as load cells, strain gauges, and pressure sensors. With an integrated low-noise programmable gain amplifier (PGA), a delta-sigma ADC with exceptional noise performance, and an onboard temperature sensor (ADS1232), the ADS1232/4 offers a complete solution for accurate and reliable sensor measurement.

Features:

  1. 24-bit resolution with up to 23.5 effective bits of accuracy for precise measurements.
  2. Low-noise programmable gain amplifier (PGA) with selectable gains of 1, 2, 64, and 128.
  3. RMS noise of 17nV at 10SPS and 44nV at 80SPS for clean data.
  4. Over 100 dB of 50Hz and 60Hz noise rejection for stable measurements in noisy environments.
  5. Built-in temperature sensor (ADS1232) for temperature monitoring.
  6. Flexible clocking options with a low-drift onboard oscillator (±3%) and optional external crystal.
  7. Easy ratiometric measurements with an external voltage reference up to 5V.
  8. Selectable data rates of 10SPS or 80SPS for different sampling needs.
  9. Two-channel differential input (ADS1232) or four-channel differential input (ADS1234).
  10. SPI interface for simple and reliable serial data transfer.
  11. Wide supply range of 2.7V to 5.3V for flexible system integration.
  12. Operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C for industrial-grade reliability.

Setup Guide

1
Identify the pins
Locate VCC (power), GND (ground), and data pins (SDA/SCL for I2C, MOSI/MISO for SPI, or TX/RX for UART). Refer to the pinout diagram on the product page.
2
Wire to your microcontroller
Connect VCC to 3.3V or 5V (check the module spec), GND to GND, and data pins to the appropriate GPIO pins on your Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
3
Install libraries
In Arduino IDE, go to Sketch → Include Library → Manage Libraries and search for the sensor library. Install the recommended version.
4
Upload example sketch
Open File → Examples → [library name] → Basic Example. Upload to your board and open Serial Monitor to view output.
5
Calibrate if needed
Some sensors (temperature, humidity, distance) may need a short warm-up period or calibration. Run the calibration sketch if provided.
